Philomen "Eldica" Nicholas (born 23 October 1914) is a Saint Lucian supercentenarian who is currently the oldest known living person in Saint Lucia. Her age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and LongeviQuest (LQ).

Biography[]

Philomen Nicholas was born in a small village called Dauphin, that is in La Borne, Monchy, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, on 23 October 1914. She grew up in a rural community, where she primarily worked in agriculture in Marquis Estate. She has two children who she both outlived.

She lived for 80 years in Grand Riviere, before returning back to her hometown.

On 9 September 2023, following the death of 111-year-old Octavie Augustine, she became the oldest known living person in Saint Lucia.

At the age of 110, her great-granddaughter said that she could walk on her own and does her daily hobbies independently, some of it includes reading and praying the rosary; she is a devout Catholic.

Philomen Nicholas currently lives in Monchy, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, at the age of 111 years, 94 days. Her descendants include 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and more great-great-great-grandchildren.
