Pilar Prieto Rubio (29 November 1903 – 27 January 2015) was an Spanish supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022. At the time of death, she was the oldest known living person in Castile and Leon.

Biography[]

Pilar Prieto Rubio was born in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain on 29 November 1903. She had three siblings: Manuel, Mariano and Maria (all deceased). As a child, her family moved from Bilbao to Villaviudas, where her father practiced the profession of saddler. In her youth, she worked as a maid in Palencia, where she married and had one child Pascua Prieto (now deceased).

Pilar Prieto Rubio died in Palencia, Castile and Leon, Spain on 27 January 2015 at the age of 111 years, 59 days. Coincidentally another Spanish supercentenarian, Claudia Martin Garcia (1904–2015), who was born on the same community as her also died on the same day as her. She was survived by her nieces Tina, Presten, Gloria, Carmina and others relatives.
