Rachel Hannah Bateman (née Bailey; 16 January 1865 – 18 March 1976) was a Canadian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
She was born in Bosanquet, Lambton, Ontario as the daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Kennedy Bailey. Rachel married her husband John Bateman in Croft, Parry Sound, Ontario on 25 December 1883. The couple had six children, Rachel outliving four. The family came to Manitoba around 1900 and settled in Dauphin. John Bateman died in 1929. Rachel moved to Winnipeg around 1964 and spent her last years there. Rachel Bateman died in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 18 March 1976, aged 111 years, 62 days.
