Rachel Swain (1 September 1830 – 12 October 1938) was a British centenarian who was the oldest known living person in the United Kingdom at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Rachel Swain was born on 1 September 1830 in the village of Flitwick. She lived there her entire life. She married in 1848. Swain and her husband had eleven children. Two of their children, Sarah and William, were alive at the time of Rachel's death. Mr. Swain died in 1902 at the age of 76.
Swain became the oldest living person upon the death of Rachel MacArthur on 10 December 1936. She died on 12 October 1938 at the age of 108 years, 41 days. She was succeeded in title by Mary Davey.
