Biography[]
Rade Grujičić was born in the village of Otilovići, Pljevlja Municipality, Principality of Montenegro (now Montenegro), on 15 February 1900.
He was looking for medicinal herbs, which is why he came to the territory of present-day Serbia. He was known for using his herbs to help people throughout the former Yugoslavia who were unable to have children. He helped hundreds of people become parents. He always said that it was a gift from God to help other people.
He never went to a doctor in his life, until he was 102 years old, when in March 2002 he had a bypass implanted at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases. He tolerated the operation very well and after recovering, returned to his village where he continued collecting medicinal herbs.
Rade Grujičić died in a small village of Goločevina on Jabuka Mountain, Prijepolje Municipality, Zlatibor District, Serbia, on 4 December 2007, at the age of 107 years, 292 days. Following his death, then 107-year-old Kostadinka Momirović became the oldest known living person in Serbia, and then 106-year-old Jovo Latinović became the oldest known living man in Serbia.
