Ramiz Rexhep Selmani [known as Baci Ramiz] (10 October 1914 – 2 July 2023) was a Macedonian centenarian who was the oldest known living man in North Macedonia at the time of his death. He is also the oldest known man from North Macedonia ever.

Biography[]

Ramiz Selmani was born in the village of Llojan, municipality of Lipkovo, Kingdom of Serbia (present-day North Macedonia) on 10 October 1914. He was born as the second child in an Albanian ethnic family to father Rexhep Selmani and mother Hajrije Selmani. He had three brothers and one sister.

One of his sons was the famous Albanian geographer and member of parliament of Macedonia Asllan Selmani (1945–2011).

At the age of 103, when he was first interviewed, he could still work in the garden and walk over 7 kilometers in a day. On his 108th birthday in 2022, his health was also extremely good and he was able to walk without assistance.

According to the statistics of the population statistics bureau of the Republic of North Macedonia, he was the oldest living man in the country in the last few years of his life.

In May 2021, he received the vaccine against Covid-19, making him one of the oldest known people to receive the vaccine.

In December 2022 he surpassed the age of Ted Petkoff (108 years, 65 days) becoming oldest known Macedonian-born man ever.

Ramiz Selmani died in the village of Llojan, municipality of Lipkovo, North Macedonia on 2 July 2023 at the age of 108 years, 265 days. At the time of his death, he was also the second-oldest known living person in North Macedonia (behind Fikrije Loki) and the second-oldest known living man in the Balkans (behind Ilie Ciocan).
