His age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and Guinness World Records (GWR). If his age was true, he would have been the oldest living man in the world from death of Shi Ping on 29 June 2024, until his own death.
Biography[]
Rashid Karimov was allegedly born in the village of Shokhambari, Gissar District, Russian Turkestan, Russian Empire (now Tajikistan) on 9 May 1912 (although his passport lists his birthdate as 1 July, which could be a place holder). In May 2022, Karimov celebrated his 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian claim. He would have become the first known man and person in Tajikistan to reach the age of 110, if his age is correct. In February 2023, he was visited by then Russian Ambassador to in Tajikistan Semyon Grigoriev.
He may have become the oldest known living veteran of the World War II, following the death of 111-year-old Canadian Reuben Sinclair on 28 August 2023. He may also have become the last known male subject of the emperor Nicholas II of Russia, following the death of Leonid Lazarevich Skvortsov on 26 January 2025.
