Reynolds Tomter is an American centenarian who is the 2nd oldest known living man in Wisconsin behind Ellis Amdall and the oldest living world war 2 veteran in the state. As well as the last living man born in the year 1917 in Wisconsin.

Biography[]

Reynolds Tomter was born in Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin on 26 April 1917 on the evenson family farm to Parents Otto and Hulda (Nee evenson) Tomter. It was the same house his mother was born in. As an only Child he had to work hard with his Parents on various chores. Such as Milking the cows, Planting and harvesting.He met his wife Dorothea Elizabeth Hoff when she boarded with him and his Parents and they married on May 27, 1939 the marriage produced two children Daughter Julie and son Reynolds. aside from his time serving in the Merchant Marines they spent their entire life in pigeon falls until her death in 1996. After the war his first job was working at the P Ekern General Store for Ernest Sletteland which also operated an ambulance and mortuary service so he had to be on call 24/7. He bought the store in 1954 and renamed it Pigeon Store Inc Where his motto was “If we don’t have it you don’t need it”.He sold the store in 1971 and went into real estate from 1973-1982 his wife was the principal at Pigeon falls Elementary until 1976. They would take their kids on annual summer trips which included visits to places such as the Dakotas, Colorado and Michigan they were also active in their local church where tomter would sing in the local Choir. He was a founding member of the Pigeon Falls Lion’s Club, and founding member of the Pigeon Falls Fire Department and the Pigeon Falls Town Club, which later became the Commercial Club Tomter would later remark “You name it I have been involved”. At the age of 100 he was still very active. He golfed regularly until shortly before turning 100 after tearing a rotator cuff.he Drank coffee in the morning at the local coffee shop downtown took daily walks driving and visiting friends in family. He is a fan & shareholder of Green Bay Packers, and is a fan of Badger football, basketball, & the Milwaukee Brewers. At the age of 103 despite Covid the town of Pigeon Falls held a birthday parade for him that had over 400 people attend he also Received 325 cards from kids from the area. At the age of 105 he walked with 0 assistance and still drove. On August 2022 he received a congressional medal for his service in World war 2.On July 2024 Tomter was the oldest World War Two veteran to attended the 80th anniversary of D-day in Normandy France. Reynolds Tomter lives in Pigeon falls Wisconsin at the age of 107 years, 264 days
