Rihoni Tsinapi (1888? – 25 June 2002) was a Papua New Guinean supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). If validated, she would be the oldest person who ever lived in Papua New Guinea.

Biography[]

Tsinapi claimed to have been born in 1888, as the only daughter to parents Gimots (father) and Tarasihe (mother). She had two brothers. At the age of 13, she was baptized as a Roman Catholic on 29 June 1901 by a Father Says at Gagan Catholic Mission in the Solos area of Buka, Bougainville.

Tsinapi had 13 children, seven of whom died at a young age. In 2002, her six surviving children still lived in Buka. Tsinapi died in Malasang, Bougainville, Papua New Guinea on 25 June 2002 at the claimed age of 114 years. At that time, she had 140 grandchildren. Hundreds of people from Buka and other parts of Bougainville attended the burial ceremony held on 26 June 2002 at Malasang, Bougainville.
