Sister Rita White Arango [Religious name: Pilar de Jesús de Manizales] (27 June 1912 – 14 July 2021) was a Colombian centenarian who was the oldest known living nun in Colombia at the time of her death. She also was one of oldest known people in Colombia.
Biography[]
Rita White Arango was born in Manizales, Caldas, Colombia on 27 June 1912. Her parents were Enrique Esteban White Uribe and Elisa Arango Gutierrez. She had eight siblings. She was baptized on 3 July 1912.
White Arango joined the Congregation of Tertiary Capuchin Sisters of the Holy Family on 2 July 1932.
From 1934 to 1967, she served as teacher in different communities in Colombia. In 1967, she moved to Venezuela, where lived until 1991 when she returned again to Colombia.
White Arango died in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia on 14 July 2021 at the age of 109 years, 11 days.
