Rivka Yezersky nee Fried (28 December 1905 – 8 January 2016) was a Belarusian-born German supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Rivka Yezersky was born as Rivka Fried in a small village near Gomel, present-day Belarus (then Russian Empire) on 28 December 1905. She worked in the editorial department and in proofreading of a large newspaper after school. In 1927 she married the engineer Boris Yezersky.
During the World War II, the couple and their three children fled further east. Her family was later relocated to Ukraine. There the couple found employment in a steel mill.
In 1973 her husband died. After her daughter finally moved to Giessen in 1995 and she followed her a year later.
Rivka Yezersky died in Giessen, Hesse, Germany on 8 January 2016 at the age of 110 years, 11 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living Belarusian-born person.
