Roberta M. Brittain (31 May 1896 – 10 August 2008) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Roberta Brittain was born in Fosters, Alabama, USA, on 31 May 1896. She had 9 siblings.
Brittain died in Bellwood, Illinois, USA, on 10 August 2008, at the age of 112 years, 71 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, husband and 3 children: Perry Brittain, Willie J. Brittain and Yvonne E. Whitlow. At the time of death, she had one living daughter, Kaye Goff and at least 3 grandchildren.
By the Gerontology Research Group scientific age validation, it has been established that Roberta Brittain-Pruitt was the oldest living person in the state of Illinois (from Eleanor Bronson's death on 6 November 2006). This validation also means that Lillian Joelson who was previously considered to have been the Illinois's oldest living person, was actually the state's second-oldest living resident behind Roberta Brittain-Pruitt.
Roberta Brittain-Pruitt’s age was verified by GRG-Portugal Correspondent Filipe Prista Lucas, Robert Young, Ilias Leivaditis, Oliver Trim, and Waclaw Jan Kroczek, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 13 July 2015.
