Rosa Cadete (27 March 1881 – fl. 27 March 1989) was a Portuguese centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Portugal when she went to limbo.
Biography
Rosa Cadete was born in Barreira, Condeixa-a-Nova, Coimbra District, Portugal on 27 March 1881, as mentioned in her 108th birthday, however her baptism record does not exist in that parish. Probably Rosa was born in another parish.
Rosa moved to Coimbra to work as a cook and a maid at Professor Bissaya Barreto's house. At the age of 108 she lived in a nursing home in Condeixa-a-Nova.
She has never had serius illnesses but was a little deaf. In her centenarian years, Rosa Cadete helped other elderly people in the nursing home who were much youger than her, going down stairs and feeding them.
Rosa Cadete was last known to be alive on 27 March 1989, at the age of 108 years, 0 days. However, in the demographic statistics of Portugal in 1989 only Paulo Fernandes de Sa died at the age of 108, and in 1990 a single woman aged 109 died (must be Rosa Cadete). In the following years of the demographic statistics of Portugal no age of the deceased centenarians matches her date of birth. She probably died in the year of 1990, at the age of 109.
