Rosalina del Socorro Vargas Solano (28 February 1896 – 12 June 2006) was a Costa Rican supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Vargas Solano was born in La Union, Cartago, Costa Rica, on 28 February 1896. Her parents were Teofilo Vargas (1858–1928) and Andrea Solano Monge (1862–1931). She had 13 siblings: Herminia (1884–1954), Francisca Hernimia (1889–?), Jose Joaquin Rafael (1890–1960), Isabel Pacifica (1892–?), Sara Ernestina (1894–?), Ester Alejandrina (1900–?), Carlos Francisco (1901–1971), Ernestina (1903–1956), Iraida (1904–1905), Francisco del Socorro (1905–1975), Carlos Francisco (1906–1907), Diego (1908–1994), and Abel del Carmen (1913–2009). She never married nor had children.

Although she lived in Tres Rios (La Union) all her life, she moved to Curridabat in the late 1990s to live with her niece, Melitina Barquero. In 2003, she moved to a nursing home. She was also known as "Chalina".

Vargas Solano died in Curridabat, San Jose, Costa Rica on 12 June 2006 at the age of 110 years, 104 days.
