On 10 December 1908, she married Thomas Lavender (1879–1967) in York, Ontario. The couple moved to Niagara Falls in 1922 and had three children, including Rose Habgood (aged almost 89 in February 1998).

As of her 104th birthday in August 1990, Lavender was living in the nursing home Oakwood Park Lodge in Niagara Falls. She credited her longevity to good and clean living. Her daughter Rose visited her almost every day.
