Rosie May Cook (24 May 1912 – 8 February 2025) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Alabama.
Biography[]
Rosie May Cook was born as Rosa Mae Ingram-McKinney in Goodwater, Coosa County, Alabama, USA on 24 May 1912 to Lewis McKinney and Georgeanna Ingram. Rosie, during her life, sometimes used her paternal surname and sometimes her maternal surname. In February of 1919, Rosie lost her mother when she was only six years old.
On 18 April 1929, one month shy of her 17th birthday, Rosie married Robert Brown. This marriage was short-lived, ending in divorce. This union produced no known children.
In 1940, Rosie was lived with the man who was to be her next life partner in Sylacauga, Alabama. On 2 January 1943, aged 30, Rosie married her second and last husband; Kamron Cook, known as K C. Shortly thereafter, Rosie gave birth to a daughter who sadly passed away before her first birthday on 28 February 1943. They went on to have at least two more children, Ralph (15 January 1946 – 18 June 2005) and Ruth (living). K C sadly passed away on 14 January 1965, aged 52. After his death, Rosie did not remarry.
In May 2022 she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
Rosie Cook died in Sylacauga, Talladega County, Alabama, USA on 8 February 2025 at the age of 112 years, 260 days.
