Ruby Billings (27 April 1900 – 9 May 2009) was a centenarian from New Zealand who was the country’s oldest known living person.
Biography[]
Ruby Billings was born in Mangere, South Auckland, New Zealand on 27 April 1900. She married twice and outlived her two children. At the time of her death, she had nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. Billings lived in retirement homes since 1986.
Billings became New Zealand's oldest living person on 22 February 2008, when Irene Morgan died. She died on 9 May 2009, aged 109 years, 12 days and was the last known New Zealander born in the 19th century. Inez Newton was her successor.
