Rudolph William "Rudy" Vitullo (19 October 1914 – 1 February 2021) was an American centenarian was one of the oldest victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biography[]

Vitullo was born on 19 October 1914 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had four siblings, all of whom he survived. Vitullo graduated from high school in 1932, and served in the Engineer Corps during World War II. He worked in the jet engine department for General Electric Aviation.

Vitullo was married twice. His first wife, and mother of his four children, Clelia Rapisardi, died in 1962. His second wife, Martha Maurer, died in 2017. Vitullo's son Thomas died in 2014.

In his later life, Vitullo lived in Silver Spring, Maryland with his son and caregiver, Rick. He died from COVID-19 on 1 February 2021 at the age of 106 years, 105 days, making him one of the oldest victims of the coronavirus pandemic. At the time of his death, he had 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
