Rupertine Gardier (23 March 1910 – 9 February 2019) was a centenarian from the United States Virgin Islands, who may have been the oldest living person in the US Virgin Islands since death of Zephrine Antonia Thomas on 30 August 2017.
Biography
Rupertine Gardier was born on Dominica on 23 March 1910. At the age of 14, she was sent to live with her aunt in Roseau. She later became a domestic worker and gave birth to four children, two daughters and two sons.
In 1952, at the age of 40, Gardier went to live in St. Kitts where she was employed as a domestic worker. In 1975 she left St. Kitts and then went to New York where she stayed for nine months.
Gardier died in Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands on 9 February 2019 at the age of 108 years, 323 days.
