Ruth Elizabeth Anderson (née Peterson; 24 July 1899 – 20 December 2011) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group.

Biography[]

Anderson was born in Ellsborough Township, Minnesota, on 24 July 1899, to Gustaf and Mary Peterson. She had a twin brother, Abel, who died when he was 13 months old. She attended Mankato School of Business and worked various jobs in Minneapolis, Minnesota, until she was needed at home to be a caregiver to her aging parents and help her brothers on the farm.

In 1959, following the death of her sister, Edith, she married Edith's husband, George Anderson. The couple farmed near Ruthton, Minnesota. George died in January 2000.;

In 1998, Anderson moved to Boulder Estates in Marshall, Minnesota. before moving in to a nearby care home in 2006. She died on 20 December 2011 at the age of 112 years, 149 days.
