Biography[]

Fujihira was born in Japan on 28 November 1900. At the age of 99, she fell out of bed and injured her hip joint. She was hospitalized for about two months due to artificial bone surgery, but other than that she had no other serious illnesses or injuries during her life.

On 17 September 2009, she was visited by the Mayor of Tateyama, Kenichi Kanemaru. In September 2011, following the death of Toshi Higano, she became the oldest living person in Chiba Prefecture. At the age of 111, she lived in the same nursing home as her two daughters: Yoshie Fujihira (then 91-year-old) and Kazu (then 86-years-old). Her age was verified by Japan’s MHLW and Anson Davis, and validated by the GRG on 18 October 2011.

Fujihira died at the Hirose Garden daycare center [Japanese: 広瀬ガーデン] in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in February 2013, at the age of 112 years, 65-92 days.
