Sabina Garay (10 February 1912 – 27 April 2023) was a Salvadoran supercentenarian who was the oldest known living person in El Salvador for the final 10 days of her life. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Sabina Garay was born in San Miguel, El Salvador on 10 February 1912. She had 16 children.

As of February 2019, she had eight living children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In February 2022, she celebrated her 110th birthday.

She became the oldest known living person in El Salvador, following the death of 111-year-old Santos Hildebrando Rivas Garcia on 17 April 2023.

Garay died in San Salvador, El Salvador on 27 April 2023 at the age of 111 years, 76 days. She is currently the second-oldest known (documented) woman ever from El Salvador, behind Josefa Rodriguez Chanta, and the third-oldest known (documented) person overall, behind Santos Hildebrando Rivas Garcia and Rodriguez Chanta. Following her death, then 110-year-old Rafael Chinchilla became the oldest known living person in El Salvador.
