Sabina Zieg (née Krebs; 12 November 1872 – 1 December 1984) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Sabina Krebs was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on 12 November 1872 as the daughter of German immigrants. She grew up in the area and married Edward Zieg in 1899. The couple had one daughter, Vera. Her husband Edward Zieg died in 1941.
Sabina attributed her longevity to eating jelly bread sandwiches.
On 30 April 1984, she surpassed the final age of Martha Brown (1858–1969) of 111 years, 169 days and became the oldest known person to ever live in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. She held the title until her own final age was not surpassed by Florence Knapp on 30 October 1985.
Sabina Zieg died in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, USA on 1 December 1984 at the age of 112 years, 19 days. She was survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
