Salvatore Cavallo (16 May 1909 – 11 July 2019) was an Italian supercentenarian who was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022.

Biography[]

Salvatore Cavallo was born in Vittoria, Sicily, Italy on 16 May 1909. He moved first to Milano, where he graduated in agriculture, and then in Torino, where he worked as professor and principal in some middle schools. He had at least one child, a daughter Grazia.

He was drafted into Italian army and participated in the Battle of El Alamein, but he survived the war avoiding shooting.

After WWII, Cavallo lived in Torino. He was the oldest living man in Italy since the death of Luigi Tomasi on 7 December 2018. Cavallo died on 11 July 2019 at the age of 110 years, 56 days. He was succeeded as Italy’s oldest man by Veneto’s Giovanni Quarisa, and Piedmont's oldest man by Franco Boggio (1911-2020).
