Biography[]

Sara Corzo claimed to be born in Colombia on 31 March 1901. Being homeless, without any known relative, and illiterate, she was brought to a nursing home in Barrancabermeja in 1974. In 2018, she was reported as the oldest living person in Colombia. She died in Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia on 9 May 2019, of heart failure at the claimed age of 118 years, 39 days.

Age Issues: Identity theft[]

Corzo's age became questioned when the family of another Sara Corzo realized she had the same ID card as their grandmother, who died in 1996 in Valledupar. All the information on the 118-year-old's alleged ID card matched with the "real" Sara Corzo's identity. While the 118-year-old Sara Corzo claimed to not know how to write and read, the "real" Sara Corzo was able to write. The director of the nursing home where resided the 118-year-old woman took her fingerprints, and it was revealed that she was unidentified; there was no information about her, not even her age.
