Sarah Ann Smith (née Moore; 1 January 1870 – 6 January 1980) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 27 October 2018.
Biography[]
Smith was born as Sarah E. Moore in Smartsville, Yuba County, California, United States, on 1 January 1870 as the third child of Augustus and Amanda (née Brown) Moore. She married her first husband, William J. Seaman, in Clatsop, Oregon, on 25 April 1895. They had two sons: William Jr. (1895–1985) and Earl (1901–1982).
The couple later divorced, and Sarah had married her second husband, Orson Wilford Smith, by 1930. He died in 1965. Smith herself died in Camas, Clark County, Washington, United States, on 6 January 1980 at the age of 110 years, 5 days, and was buried four days later.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her two sons, four grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
