Sava Bjelica (27 January 1901 – 27 March 2006) was a Bosnian centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Sava Bjelica was born in the village of Meca, municipality Berkovici, Austria-Hungary, (present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina) on 27 January 1901. He spent most of his life in his native village doing various agricultural jobs. He survived five wars, and as a member of partisan units during World War II, he walked almost the entire territory of the former common state of Yugoslavia.
He had five children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the former Yugoslavia and abroad.
Sava Bjelica died in the village of Meca, Berkovici, Bosnia and Herzegovina on 27 March 2006 at the age of 105 years, 59 days.
