Shen Guangyuan [Chinese: 沈光远] (born 18 January 1911) is a Chinese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He is a retired teacher from Shanghai who taught at various middle schools across China for over 56 years. He has been regarded as a "leading educator" in the Chongming district.
Shen Guangyuan was born in Jianshe Town, Chongming District, Shanghai, Qing dynasty (now China) on 18 January 1911 (18 December 1910 by the Lunar calendar). In 1919, he enrolled in Tangjiazhai Primary School in Bang Town, and later attended private Boyue Primary School. He attended high school at Zhende High School, and pursued higher education at Shanghai Private Daxia University.
Upon graduating from university, he began teaching mathematics at Chongming Private Minben Middle School in 1931, and later taught at several other schools throughout his career, including Baozhen Junior High School, Chongming Middle School, Beipu Middle School, Datong Middle School, Xinfeng Middle School, Dongfeng Middle School and other schools for 56 years. In addition to being a math teacher, he also had several administrative roles at the schools he taught at, including working as the director of general affairs and as an accountant. He is considered to be a leading educator in Chongming.
In 2006, Shen penned an article titled "Memoirs of Shen Guangyuan", which chronicles his long teaching career, including his experiences working hard to operate a school for poorer students in Chongming after Japanese troops invaded the region in 1938 and relocated hundreds of students.
Shen Guangyuan currently lives in Jianshe Town, Chongming District, Shanghai, China, at the age of 111 years, 6 days.
