Kagawa was born in Japan on 28 May 1911.
In April 2021, aged 109 (almost 110), Kagawa became the oldest Olympic torchbearer ever. The previous record holder was Aida Mendes (1909–2020), who was 106 at the time when she participated as a torchbearer in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In May 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
Kagawa currently lives in Yamatokoriyama, Nara Prefecture, Japan at the age of 110 years, 240 days.
