Sixta Cabanas [Spanish: Cabañas] (28 March 1913 – 19 June 2022) was a Paraguayan centenarian who was the oldest known (documented) living person in Paraguay at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Sixta Cabanas was born in Yuty, Caazapa Department, Paraguay on 28 March 1913. Allegedly, her mother Bernarda Cabanas lived to be 114. When she was young, Cabanas moved with her family to General Artigas.

She married and had eight children: seven daughters (including Ambrosia Cabanas (deceased as of March 2017), Juana Cabanas, Vidalina, and Fermina), and one son.

At the age of 104, she still can walk with the help of a cane.

She became the oldest known living person in Paraguay, following the death of 110-year-old Lorenzo Achar Valenzuela on 5 September 2020.

As of March 2022, she has three living daughters Juana Cabanas, Vidalina, and Fermina, many grandchildren (including Gladys Cabanas), great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Cabanas died in Potrero Kokuere, General Artigas, Itapua Department, Paraguay on 19 June 2022 at the age 109 years, 83 days.
