Sonny Hendricks (31 December 1900 – 9 October 2011) was a Guyanese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the oldest living man in Guyana and the second-oldest known living person in Guyana, behind Ismay Spooner. He is also the oldest known man ever from Guyana.
Biography[]
Sonny Hendricks was born in Berbice, Guyana on 31 December 1900. He moved with his parents and siblings to the fertile Region Nine area in his early teens. His parents died when he was at an early age. He married and had four children.
In December 2010, he celebrated his claimed 110th birthday and may have become the first known male supercentenarian from Guyana.
Sonny Hendricks died of influenza in Moco-Moco community, Rupununi, Guyana on 9 October 2011 at the age of 110 years, 282 days. He was survived by his 95-year old wife, four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
