Sophia Fegle Samson Wijnberg (17 April 1799 – 11 July 1905) was a Dutch centenarian who was the oldest known living person in the Netherlands and Europe at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Sophia Wijnberg was born in Zwolle, Overijssel, Netherlands on 17 April 1799. Her parents were Salomon Samson Wijnberg and Geertruida Mozes Kars. She had three siblings.
At the some point in life, she was fiancée of Gabriel Philip van Perlstein.
She married Isaac Daniel Abrahams on 25 March 1817. The couple had five children. They divorced in 1833.
She became the oldest known living person in Europe, following the death of 107-year-old Karen Brodbaek of Denmark on 5 August 1904.
She was the oldest Dutch woman ever until her age was surpassed by Petronella Braams on 3 March 1948.
Wijnberg died in Kampen, Overijssel, Netherlands on 11 July 1905 at the age of 106 years, 85 days. Following her death, then-105-year-old Agnete Olsdatter of Norway became the oldest known living person in Europe.
