    Death Note Wiki is a community database about the manga Death Note, by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. Death Note centers around a high school student named Light Yagami, who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone simply by writing the victim's name while picturing his or her face. Disgusted with the amount of crime in the world, Light decides to use the notebook to eliminate criminals and become the "god" of a "New World," inhabited only by those that he deems "good." Now accompanying Light is a Shinigami (Death God) named Ryuk, who dropped the notebook to Earth from the Shinigami Realm. After a number of criminals suddenly die, talk on the internet leads to the deaths being attributed to a mysterious killer that is deemed "Kira" (the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "killer"). As the death toll quickly continues to rise, law enforcement agencies around the world begin to take notice and all are unable to find any reason for the deaths to have had occurred. Unbeknownst to Light, a Detective known only as "L" has also noticed the strange deaths and is already on Lights tail. After publicly voicing his intention to find Kira and bring him to justice, a cat and mouse game begins between Light and L as they both try to stay ahead of the other and uncover their opponents name.

The story revolves around Vincent, his long-term girlfriend Katherine, and his subsequent affair with Catherine. Following the affair, he is plunged into nightmares each time he sleeps, which makes up the puzzle/action part of the game. Each night within his dream, Vincent must push and pull blocks from a tower to create a path to the top, all the while racing against a time-limit or outrunning bosses which are manifestations of his real-life fears. During the day, Vincent can freely explore and talk to his friends at the bar, listen to music at a jukebox, send and receive text messages, order drinks, play an arcade game, and experience the narrative of his struggle of choosing between Katherine and Catherine. There are 8 possible endings based on the various choices the player makes throughout the game.
