Stojco Ivanov Stojcev [Bulgarian: Стойчо Иванов Стойчев] (19 April 1916 – 2 January 2023) was a Bulgarian centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Bulgaria as well and the oldest living World War II veteran in Bulgaria at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Stojco Ivanov Stojcev was born in Kamenovo, Bulgaria on 19 April 1916. His parents were Ivan and Irina Stojcev. When he was less than a year old, his father died.

He married Sultana and had three children: Mitko, Ivan, and Georgi. His wife died in 1978 and later he remarried.

During World War II, he was reservist at the front until his military unit was stationed in northern Greece.

His second wife, Irina, died in February 2019 at the age of 82.

On the occasion of his 105th birthday in 2021, he received the badge of honor of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, brought to him by his National Security Adviser Colonel Iliya Milushev.

He became the oldest known living man in Bulgaria, following the death of 107-year-old Todor Karagogov on 3 May 2021. At the age of 106, he still lived alone in the house he built in the late 1940s.

Ivanov Stojcev died in Nova Zagora, Bulgaria on 2 January 2023 at the age of 106 years, 258 days.
