Subhagiya Sarran (13 December 1901? – fl.1 January 2012) was a Trinidadian supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Subhagiya Sarran was born in Trinidad and Tobago (then a British colony) on 13 December 1901. Her parents, Saran Dhanai and Bacorie, came to Trinidad and Tobago from India as indentured labourers, and made their home at Waterloo, Carapichaima. They had seven children: five boys and two girls.

Sarran married at an early age, and had nine children with her husband Saran. She was widowed in 1975, when the couple was living at Phoenix Park. One of her grandchildren, Kamla Sarran, was an employee of the Treasury Division of the Ministry of Fianance. Sarran had vivid memory of the both World Wars.

In 2008, Sarran had 48 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. She worshipped at the Phoenix Park Mandir until she lost her ability to walk long distances.

Subhagiya Sarran was last reported to be alive in Phoenix Park Village, California, Trinidad and Tobago on 1 January 2012 at ththe claimed age of 110 years, 19+ days. At the time she went to limbo, she was believed to be oldest living woman in Trinidad and Tobago.
