Susanna Alphana “Sue” Jackley (née Minder; 23/24? March 1871 – 17 March 1982) was a validated American supercentenarian.
Biography[]
Sue Jackley was born as Susanna Alphana Minder in New Matamoras, Ohio, USA on 29 January 1896, she married glass blower Thomas Jackley in Bellaire. The couple lived in various states such as Pennsylvania and California. Sue became a widow in 1937.
On her 100th birthday, she stated that she had enjoyed her life and always managed to overcome adversities. She was still able to do certain household chores such as doing the dishes, cleaning her room and sewing. She enjoyed watching television in her sparetime. While her hearing was good at age 100, her eyesight was poor. Three of her seven children were still alive at the time, including her son who she had been living with for 9 years.
Sue Jackley died in California, USA on 17 March 1982 at the age of 110 years, 358?/359 days. She was less than a week away from her 111th birthday. She was the 5th oldest living person in the world at the time of her death. Nellie Spencer, Emma Wilson, Mary Phil Cota, Mathew Beard and Zachariah Blackistone were older. Revalidation research suggests she was a day younger than validated.
