Sumi Fujiki [Japanese: 藤木すみ] (10 September 1892 – 27 August 2004) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Sumi Fujiki was born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan on 10 September 1892. In September 2002, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Following the death of 112-year-old Tadanosuke Hashimoto on 31 May 2003, Fujiki became the oldest living person in Hyogo Prefecture. Her age was verified by Japan's MHLW, Stefan Gelow, and Tom Li, and (posthumously) validated by the GRG on 2 June 2008.
Sumi Fujiki died in Ono, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan on 27 August 2004 at the age of 111 years, 352 days. At the time of her death, she was the sixth-oldest living person in Japan, after Ura Koyama, Toyo Endo, Yoki Yonehara, Kame Higa, and Haru Shimazu.
