Sun Choe [Korean: 최순희] (28 May 1908 – fl.1 July 2019) was a South Korean-born American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography
Sun Choe was born in Korean Empire (present-day South Korea) on 28 May 1908. After she spent her childhood in Korea under Japanese colonial rule from 1910–1945, and after experiencing the Korean War firsthand, Choe came to America in the 1985.
Even at the age of 110, Choe still has a sense of humor, joking to her guests that she doesn’t know how she’ll pay for her 110th birthday party, and saying her secret to long life is simply being happy. Choe celebrated her 110th birthday on 24 May 2018, when the Laurel Brook Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center hosted a special party to honor her long life.
Sun Choe was last known to be alive on 1 July 2019 at the age of 111 years, 34 days. At time, she lived in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA.
