Biography

Susana Lynn was born as Susana Patterson in Texas, United States on 9 December 1888 (claimed 1884). Her parents were Will Patterson and Mary Jackson. She gave birth at the age of 12 and became a grandmother at the age of 28. A Baptist who always attended church, Lynn believed her secret to longevity was staying out of the sun and living as close to the Ten Commandments as possible. She was a keen gardener who enjoyed eating home grown vegetables such as turnip, mustard, and collards.

Susana Lynn died in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas, United States on 1 July 2001 at the age of 112 years, 204 days.

Family

Lynn's daughter, Mary Perkins Patterson Manuel (1900–1997) lived to be 97 years and her granddaughter Lula Mae Jackson (1917–2018) lived to be 100 years.

Lynn's granddaughter, Jackson was still alive at the time of Lynn's death at the age of 83 years, 192 days, possibly making Jackson the oldest person ever to have a grandparent living.

On 9 January 2000, Lynn became one of the few people ever to live to the 100th birthday of their child (though her daughter had passed away three years earlier). Lynn may also have been the last or one of the last surviving people to have been a parent of someone born in the 19th century.
