Suzanne Jacquet (22 April 1912 – 10 November 2023) was a Mauritian-born French supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was believed to be the oldest living resident of Toulon, Var, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France, and the oldest known living Mauritian-born person at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Suzanne Jacquet was born in Curepipe, Mauritius on 22 April 1912. She spent her childhood on the island, married a naval officer, and eventually moved to mainland France, settling in the Mediterranean city of Toulon.
Jacquet attributes her longevity to "luck" and is reportedly in excellent physical health, having undergone her first surgery at the age of 103.
In April 2022, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. She is able to walk upright with the assistance of a walker, does not use a hearing aid, and reads avidly without using glasses.
She was reported to be the oldest known living resident of Toulon following the death of 118-year-old Lucile Randon on 17 January 2023.
Suzanne Jacquet died in the Renaissance Mayol retirement home in Toulon, Var, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France on 10 November 2023 at the age of 111 years, 202 days.
