Tanekichi Onishi [Japanese: 大西種吉] (15 February 1900 – 11 September 2011) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the second-oldest living man in the world and also in Japan (behind Jiroemon Kimura) at the time of his death.

Biography

Tanekichi Onishi was born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 15 February 1900. He died in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, on 11 September 2011, at age of 111 years 208 days. Coincidentally another Japanese validated supercentenarian, Kana Nakada, who was born on the same day as him also died on the same day as him.

That had only ever happened once before, with Mollie Beard and Vonnie Looney both being born on 4 May 1893 and dying on 3 September 2003 aged 110 years, 123 days and it has never happened since.
