Teresa Ortiz Giraldo (12 July 1909 – 14 July 2019) was a Spanish supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020.
Biography[]
Teresa Ortiz Giraldo was born in the town of La Alberca, Castile and Leon, Spain, on 12 July 1909. She married a man who died at the age of 59. They had four children together, and Ortiz Giraldo was a great-great grandmother at the time of her death. Ortiz Giraldo was a housewife and gardener, who would sell her lettuce and tomatoes at the local market to support her family. For the last few years of her life, Ortiz Giraldo lived in the Nino Jesus neighborhood of Madrid.
Ortiz Giraldo died on 14 July 2019 at the age of 110 years, 2 days.
