Thampson Mthombeni (6 June 1902? – fl. 11 November 2016) was a Malawian-born Zimbabwean supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG). If his claimed age is true, he would have been the oldest living man in the world since the death of Arturo Licata on 24 April 2014, though he is currently in limbo, having no confirmation of being alive since 11 November 2016.

Biography

Thampson Mthombeni claimed that he was born in Mzimba in Northern Malawi on 6 June 1902. Later he stayed in South Africa between 1917 and 1926 where he worked as a miner and got married. Later he went back to Malawi and got married to another woman and they had two children before he came to Zimbabwe. He went to Shurugwi where he stayed for about 17 years and witnessed the opening of Peak Mine. Thampson Mthombeni was last reported to be alive in 11 November 2016 when he lived in Njobo village, Mberengwa, Zimbabwe at the claimed age of 114 years, 156 days.[1][2][3] He was then reported to be oldest living man in Zimbabwe.
