Theresa Josephine "Terry" Piano (née Cammarata; 10 April 1917 – 7 October 2023) was a validated Centenarian, who was one of the oldest people living in Ventura at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Theresa was born as Teresina Josephine Cammarata on April 10, 1917. Her parents were Italian immigrants Angelo Cammarata (1884-1942) and Calogera Cammarata (1891-1971) in Cuyahoga, Ohio as one of ten children. Theresa helped her father Angelo make whiskey during the prohibition era, Jimmy, Theresa's brother exposed the whiskey secrecy on accident, Angelo told Theresa to go to the store to buy soda one day, when Theresa comes back, Angelo will scold Jimmy (give him a beating), Theresa decided to tell Jimmy, Jimmy ran away, changed his name to James Carlone, and joined the army, Theresa got the beating instead of Jimmy.

Theresa met her husband Norman Domenick Piano on a beach, and they got married in 1943. They had two children; Michael James Piano (1944-2014) who was a famous singer in the 1960s band The Sandpipers, and Bernadette Christine Piano (1946-).

In 2000, her husband died, and Theresa became a widow. Theresa outlived all of her siblings, her brother Jimmy sacrificed his life to save his platoon during World War 2. In April 2017, Theresa celebrated her 100th birthday and became a centenarian.

Theresa died of a heart attack on 7 October 2023 in Ventura, California at the age of 106 years and 180 days.
