Tripolino Giannini (20 August 1912 – 31 December 2023) was an Italian supercentenarian who was the oldest known living man in Italy at the time of his death. His age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Tripolino Giannini was born in Cecina, Tuscany, Italy on 20 August 1912. He had two children: Romano and Sergio (died 2004).
In 1929, he participated in the first race of the Targa Cecina, finishing fourth. He served as a Bersaglieri.
On 18 April 2021, at the age of 108, he received his second dose of the Pfizer–BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, making him one of the oldest people to receive the vaccine.
As of August 2021, he had five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He became the oldest known living man in Italy, following the death of 109-year-old Giuseppe Venturi on 26 November 2021.
He became the oldest known living Italian-born man, following the death of 112-year-old Delio Venturotti of Brazil on 1 June 2022.
He celebrated his 110th birthday in August 2022.
At the age of 111, he was still able to walk and was in good health.
Tripolino Giannini died on 31 December 2023, at the age of 111 years, 133 days. At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living person in Tuscany, behind Cristina Paloscia, and the second-oldest known man in Europe, behind Andre Ludwig. He was among the top 10 oldest known living men in the world, and the oldest man ever from Tuscany.
