Tsuru Takenaka [Japanese: 竹中ツル] (18 May 1891 – 6 February 2002) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Tsuru Takenaka was born in Toyota (now Shimonoseki), Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan on 18 May 1891. In May 2001, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Following the death of 110-year-old Shizuno Iwasaki of Shimonoseki on 3 December 2001, Takenaka became the oldest known living person in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Tsuru Takenaka died from pneumonia in Toyota (now Shimonoseki), Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan on 6 February 2002 at the age of 110 years, 264 days.
