Uton Samuels (born 12 June 1914) is a Jamaican supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He is currently the oldest known living person in Jamaica.
Biography[]
Uton Samuels was born to Cecilia Campbell and Ethelbert Samuel in Mount Piece in Hanover, Jamaica on 12 June 1914. He said that he never benefited from formal education. "He said that he started working from the age of 12 at Georgia property in Lucea. After leaving that job in his late 20s, Samuels worked at the Spring Valley Farm in Kingsvale, Hanover. He was married to Etta Samuels, who died on 25 August 2005 at the age of 83. Together with his wife, he had eight children. He said that he was swinging his cutlass even at the age of 100. At the age of 109, he could still walk without help.
He became the oldest known living man in Jamaica, following the death of 109-year-old Hubert Williams on 11 August 2022.
Samuels currently lives in Hanover, Jamaica at the age of 110 years, 175 days.
