Uton Samuels (12 June 1914?/25 August 1925– 19 April 2025) was a Jamaican supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Uton Samuels claimed to have been born in Mount Peace, Hanover Parish, Jamaica, on 12 June 1914 (more likely 25 August 1925), to Etelbert Samuels and Cecilia Campbell. He said that he never benefited from formal education. "He said that he started working from the age of 12 at Georgia property in Lucea. After leaving that job in his late 20s, Samuels worked at the Spring Valley Farm in Kingsvale, Hanover. He was married to Etta Samuels, who died on 25 August 2005 at the age of 83. Together with his wife, he had eight children. He said that he was swinging his cutlass even at the claimed age of 100. At the claimed age of 109, he could still walk without help.
Uton Samuels died in Cousins Cove, Hanover Parish, Jamaica, on 19 April 2025, at the claimed age of 110 years, 311 days (more likely 99 years, 237 days).
Age Issues[]
The GRG discovered that Samuels' birth record states his birthday as 25 August 1925, making him only 99 at the time of his death.
