Van Hoa Lam (15 August 1910? – 27 April 2022) was a Chinese-born Australian supercentenarian claim whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Van Hoa Lam claimed to have been born in China on 15 August 1910. Around 1940, she emigrated to Vietnam. She had four children whilst living in Vietnam, one of whom is named Julie. The family ran a hardware store until the Vietnam War, when three of her children moved to Australia via boat.
Hoa Lam’s family saved up to fly herself and her daughter to Australia in 1986. To do so, she had to give up her hardware business to the Vietnamese government. She still lived independently in the Richmond Housing Estate on her alleged 107th birthday in 2017. She claimed to have become a supercentenarian in August 2020.
Van Hoa Lam died in North Richmond, Victoria, Australia on 27 April 2022 at the claimed age of 111 years, 255 days.
