Biography[]

Victoria Garcia Gil was born in San Vicente de Cañete, Lima Region, Peru, on 6 October 1915, to Juan Francisco Garcia and Antonia Gil. Her father was a Chinese immigrant. She had five siblings. In her early adulthood, she moved to Lima City, and she never married nor had children. She worked on medication control for 48 years at a laboratory.

She was a follower of the Lord of Miracles. She attended the procession until she was 90, which she would only attend virtually due to her old age. She would enjoy traversing until the age of 100.

At the age of 105, she remained lucid, had good eyesight and great hearing, and was able to walk with the use of a cane. She attributed her longevity to a healthy diet, keenness, and discipline. Her favourite dishes include spicy shrimp with fried yucca and carapulcra with sopa seca.

In March 2021, Garcia Gil contacted Trome because she wasn't on the list of people who would be vaccinated against COVID-19 in her city. She was subsequently vaccinated by EsSalud a few days after, making her one of the oldest people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

On 2 May 2025, following the death of 110-year-old Mercedes Silva de Albines, she became the oldest known living person in Peru.

On 6 October 2025, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.

Victoria Garcia Gil currently lives in San Miguel District, Lima Region, Peru, at the age of 110 years, 110 days.
