Viola Lindsey (née Marshall; 10 November 1900 – 24 February 2014) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2012.

Biography[]

Viola Lindsey was born in Mobile, Alabama, USA on 10 November 1900, the oldest daughter of 11 children of William Marshall and Pearl (née Dixon) Marshall.

She attended Mobile Public Schools, graduating from Most Pure Heart of Mary High School. She grew up attending Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with her family.

In 1946, she followed a sister and daughter to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she met her future husband Robert Lindsey. Robert died in the 1950s. She was never sick or suffered any illness until the last month of her life.

Viola Lindsey died in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA on 24 February 2014 at the age of 113 years, 106 days. She is survived by two twin daughters, then 92 year-olds Bernice Ewing and Bertha Gause; five grandchildren Bettye Lynch, Doris Parkman, Catherine Calincale, Viola Gilkey and Carolyn W. Taylor; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The sixth generation, Breann Victoria, was born three weeks before her death.
